The European Union has stepped up pressure on Israel to support a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. According to Brussels, that is the only credible path toward peace in the Middle East.
EU foreign ministers held talks in Brussels on the conflict. Israel’s foreign minister and the Palestinians’ top diplomat were both at the table. France’s foreign minister said there will be a need for a Palestinian state with security guarantees for all after the war in Gaza ends. Other ministers echoed that call and appealed for the release of Israeli hostages held by Hamas, who were responsible for the terror attacks in Israel on October 7.
