Headteacher Ruth Perry ‘completely destroyed’ by Ofsted inspection before taking her own life

The sister of headteacher Ruth Perry, who took her own life after an Ofsted inspection, has called on the government to change the “deeply flawed” grading system.

Ms Perry took her own life in January 2023 after Caversham Primary School in Reading, Berkshire, was downgraded from the top grade, “outstanding”, to the lowest, “inadequate”.

Speaking to Sky’s Sarah-Jane Mee on The UK Tonight, Julia Waters said her sister was “completely destroyed” by the inspection.
