Holocaust survivor, 100, says she lived through ‘the worst thing in life’

100-year-old Holocaust survivor Lily Ebert, who was 20 when the Nazis deported her from her Hungarian hometown to Auschwitz, says she “survived the worst thing in life”.

Holocaust Memorial Day marked 78 years since the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp was liberated, and commemorated the millions killed by the Nazi regime.

Miss Elbert said: “To survive that…I don’t think a lot of people can survive that. I survived that and that was terrible.”
