Turkey rebrands as the economy continues to crumble | DW Business Special

Turkey – or should we say Türkiye – has asked the United Nations to start using the Turkish pronunciation of its name in English communications. This country of 85 million seems to think it needs an image change, to one that has less to do with a funny bird, perhaps. Whatever you call it, Turkey has more than just an image problem: Inflation there is rising as fast as the currency is falling, it has two wars on its doorstep, and thus far not even rapid growth has been enough to get Turkey out of its predicament. General elections are looming next year and they’ve never felt more important.
