German Chancellor Olaf Scholz is in Washington for talks with lawmakers and President Joe Biden.

The leaders are set to discuss the Israel-Hamas war and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Last week the EU approved a 50 billion euro aid package for Ukraine after months of wrangling.

For more on this, we talk to our Chief political editor Michaela Küfner, who joins us from Washington.
