How Miami deals with 90% of US Valentine’s Day flowers

Over 16,000 tonnes of flowers have been imported this year alone to cater for the romantic season, involving 460 million from Colombia and Ecuador.

Customs officials check through thousands of bunches, totalling millions of stems, looking for exotic pests.
