Kemi Badenoch has become the first government minister to say reported remarks from Frank Hester about Diane Abbott were racist.
Hester, who donated £10m to the Tories last year, allegedly said in 2019 that Ms Abbott made him “want to hate all black women” and that the politician “should be shot”, according to The Guardian.
But Labour’s Abena Oppong-Asare tells Sophy the government is “not going far enough” in terms of calling out such language.
Asked how the comments made her feel, the MP says: “As a black woman I feel gaslighted.”
