Russian election: Putin addresses crowds in Moscow after securing fifth term in office

Large crowds have gathered in Moscow’s Red Square following President Vladimir Putin’s election victory for yet another patriotic showpiece.

Thousands of people attended an open-air concert to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Russian annexation of Crimea, which is internationally recognised as part of Ukraine.

Mr Putin has secured his fifth term as Russian president after receiving more than 87% of the votes, according to the country’s central election commission.
