Estimated read time 1 min read

The United Nations is warning that 220000 children in Sudan could die from malnutrition in the coming weeks and months. The UN humanitarian affairs agency has briefed the Security Council, describing the situation as one of the worst humanitarian crises in recent history. Almost a year of fighting between the army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces has killed tens of thousands and caused acute food shortages.

Al Jazeera’s Gaybriel Elizondo reports from New York.
