What the war in Ukraine means for India’s relations with the EU | DW News

India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in Berlin today, where he’s meeting with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. While the focus of Modi’s visit is on trade and energy partnerships, the war in Ukraine is overshadowing the meeting. India, which imports much of its military hardware from Russia, is trying to walk a diplomatic tightrope between Moscow and the West. Modi has so far refused to condemn the Russian invasion or to impose sanctions on Russia – straining India’s relationship with the EU.
