Minister: We need to keep communication lines open with Iran | Iran attack

Estimated read time 2 min read

Home Office minister Laura Farris has told Sky News Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps is a “malign force” but the government does not want to disrupt lines of communications with Iran by declaring it a terrorist organisation.

Ms Farris said there was something “positive about having face-to-face diplomatic relations” with Tehran.

Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer and a number of Tory former cabinet ministers have called for the proscription of the IRGC.

Israel says it will respond to Saturday’s attack by Iran, which Tehran launched in retaliation for an Israeli attack on its consulate in Damascus.
