‘Assassination attempt’ leaves Slovakian PM Fico in ‘life-threatening condition’ | DW News

Prime Minister Robert Fico has been injured in a shooting and taken to hospital. A witness told Reuters news agency he saw a man being detained by police. The incident followed a government meeting in the town of Handlova, 150 kilometres north of the capital Bratislava. The interior ministry has described it as an assassination attempt. Slovakia’s President has called it a ‘brutal and reckless’ attack.
