American soldier Bowe Bergdahl held by Taliban is freed

American soldier Bowe Bergdahl has been released by the Taliban after being held captive by them for five years in Afghanistan.

He was returned in exchange for five Afghan detainees held at Guantanamo Bay.

The 28-year-old was captured in June 2009 in eastern Afghanistan under unknown circumstances. He had only been in the country two months.
