Interest rate held at 5.25%

The Bank of England has left interest rates unchanged for the third successive time.

Three members of the Bank’s monetary policy committee (MPC) voted for an increase in borrowing costs from 5.25%, but they were outvoted by the remaining six members.

The panel indicated it would not be cutting rates in the near future.
