Albania’s age-old law granting men’s rights to women nears its end | Focus on Europe

In Albania, if a woman takes an oath of virginity, she can gain the legal rights and responsibilities of a man. According to an archaic law known as the Kanun, the women who take this vow are referred to as Burrnesha.
