Germany has announced that the West will impose additional sanctions on Russia after allegations of war crimes in Ukraine. Reports of the latest atrocities are adding pressure on Western allies to take more radical steps.

Calls for a boycott of Russian oil and gas are growing louder. Over the weekend Germany’s defence minister also said, such a step needed to be discussed. As Europe receives forty percent of its gas from Russia, Germany’s Chancellor Olaf Scholz rebuffed calls for a full ban, saying it would wreak havoc on the economy and risk social unrest.
