China’s major mosque stripped of domes amid campaign to ‘sinicise’ Islam

China has finished renovating a grand mosque in the province of Yunnan, removing its
Arabic-style features.
It’s part of a campaign to change the look of Muslim places of worship.
Some 2000 mosques have been modified or destroyed in recent years.
Critics say the government is trying to get rid of foreign influence and control religion.
Beijing denies those claims.
