Fires erupt as farmers protest outside European Parliament in Brussels

Furious farmers have started fires outside the European Parliament building in Brussels in protest against taxes, rising costs and cheap imports.

Some 1,300 tractors blocked major routes through the city.

Similar protests have broken out across Europe by farmers who say they are struggling to make a living in the current economic environment.
