Florida’s governor declares a state of emergency as Storm Helene approaches US coast | DW News

Tropical Storm Helene is expected to intensify and to become a major hurricane as it heaads towards the US Gulf Coast. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis declared a state of emergency in 61 counties ahead of the storm’s arrival and urged residents to evacuate. Residents have been filling sandbags in preparation for anticipated flooding.
