As Christmas approaches, German businesses are not feeling so merry. The Ifo Institute has put out a new survey which finds that despite record employment, the country’s lead share-index hitting record highs, and even energy prices falling — there’s a downbeat mood among businesses. We speak to the president of the Ifo Institute, Clemens Fuest, for his interpretation of the data, as well as what a budget shortfall out of Berlin could mean for the future.
