In Haiti, police working with Kenyan forces have launched a joint operation to force criminal gangs out of the capital Port-au-Prince.
Haiti’s prime minister made the announcement while visiting a hospital treating officers who were injured in a shootout earlier in the week. Kenyan forces are on the ground as part of the UN’s security mission to Haiti. More than 3,200 killings have been reported this year due to gang violence.
Prime Minister Garry Conille is calling for Haitians to support the operation.
