How Ecuador took back control of its prisons from the drug gangs

Sky News has gained rare access to a prison in Ecuador retaken by the military as part of a crackdown on criminal gangs and drug cartels in the country.

The prison in the coastal city of Esmeraldas was the operating headquarters of the “Los Tiguerones” gang until the military moved in and took back control.

Outside the jail, heavily armed soldiers keep the beaches safe so people can enjoy the seaside.
