Stocks of Chinese property developers have surged after Beijing drafted a list of 50 real estate firms eligible for aid. It’s an attempt to support the embattled property sector at the center of the country’s economic problems. The move comes as giant financial conglomerate Zheng Zhi says it is insolvent. We ask Oxford University economist George Magnus if an end is really in sight.
