Man found guilty, 20 years after death of PC Sharon Beshenivsky

More than 20 years ago, PC Sharon Beshenivsky was shot when she attended a robbery.

PC Beshenivsky, 38, “stopped in terror” when she saw the gunman as she approached the door and was shot in the chest at point blank range before collapsing to the floor with an immediately fatal injury.

Six people were arrested and convicted of charges including murder and manslaughter. One man evaded justice, and fled to Pakistan, before being extradited.

Jurors were told Piran Ditta Khan was the mastermind behind the robbery.

He was found guilty for his part in the police officer’s murder.
