Pakistan: Internet restricted ahead of pro-Khan rally | DW News

Authorities in Pakistan have suspended internet and mobile services in some areas over what they describe as security concerns. The annoucement was made as supporters of the imprisoned former Prime Minister Imran Khan were set to rally in the capital, Islamabad. They rely heavily on social media and messenger apps. Security has been beefed up ahead of the protest. Khan who has been in jail for a year says the criminal cases against him are politically motivated.
