The Prime Minister says the UK must protect itself against the risk from China following what Sky News understands was a major data breach at the Ministry of Defence carried out by Beijing.
Rishi Sunak refused to name the country responsible, but said a “malign actor has compromised the armed forces payment network”.
The Chinese government has dismissed the accusations as “absurd”.
