Storm Ciaran: Power cuts and school closures on England’s south coast

A 300-mile stretch of coastline has been on high alert as Storm Ciaran battered southern England with strong winds and heavy rain.

Thousands of properties lost power, many schools remained shut, and the road to the Isle of Portland was temporarily closed.
