Trump confirms plan to withdraw US troops from ‘delinquent’ Germany | DW News

President Donald Trump says the US will slash the number of American troops in Germany by nearly 10,000 from current levels of about 35-thousand. He tied the move to what he called Berlin’s failure to meet its NATO spending commitments. The move has shaken the NATO military alliance and Germany, which serves as a base for many of the US troops who deploy to Iraq and Afghanistan. The US President says he’s acting because Berlin has not been paying its share of NATO defense spending. We’ll explore the possible fallout from the pullout.
