US campus protests: Unresolved debate over public order, free speech and antisemitism | DW News

The war in Gaza has been fueling weeks of protests on US college campuses. There were dramatic scenes at Columbia University in New York, where students occupied and barricaded themselves in Hamilton Hall, demanding the university divest itself from all Israeli businesses. Last week, protests erupted again in Los Angeles at UCLA. Police were called in to restore order. Polls show some public support for the students, but the majority in the US does not approve of what these protests have morphed into.
