Israel has accused workers of the UNRWA of violence during the Hamas-led terror attack on October 7th. Many countries have stopped their funding.
But what is the UNRWA?

The UN agency provides education, healthcare and welfare support to people in Gaza, the West Bank, Jordan, Syria and Lebanon. It was specifically set up in 1949 to help Palestinian refugees displaced. For years, Israel has accused the UNRWA of failing to fully distance itself from designated terrorist groups such as Hamas. The suspension of funding by the top sources – the US, Germany and the EU – comes at the worst time. The UN’s agency is warning of an ‘unprecedented’ humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
