US Secretary of State Antony Blinken is in the Middle East on a crisis diplomacy mission. He says Israel should end its war in Gaza, now that it has largely achieved its strategic objective of dismantling Hamas.
Blinken has also said the US rejects calls by some within Israel to re-occupy parts of Gaza after the war. Some far-right politicians and Jewish settlers say Israel should re-establish settlements in the strip, nearly two decades after Israel’s withdrawal.
