Why has Hurricane Beryl formed so early on in year?

Hurricane Beryl has hit Barbados and Grenada, as officials say it is the earliest ever time of the year that a Category 4 storm has formed in the Atlantic.

The National Hurricane Center in Miami, Florida, says Beryl is now a potentially catastrophic category five hurricane and is expected to bring life-threatening winds and a storm surge to Jamaica later in the week.
