WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange steps on Australian soil to cheering crowds

Julian Assange has touched down in Australia and been greeted by his supporters and family members, including his father John Shipton and wife Stella Assange.

The WikiLeaks founder left a US court in the US Pacific Island territory of Saipan a free man after pleading guilty to a single criminal count of conspiring to obtain and disclose classified US national defence documents.
